Simpson Development is a family-owned contractor and commercial developer based in Alexandria. Founded in 1924, Simpson has completed over 400 projects including the Alexandria Hotel, the Alexandria Courthouse, and the Torpedo Factory. Simpson Development is the original developer and current owner of the two office buildings located at 333 N Fairfax St / 300 N Lee St, which were built in the 1960’s. What is being proposed?
The existing office buildings and parking garage located at 333 N Fairfax St / 300 N Lee St will be demolished and an anticipated 32 townhomes will be constructed. The proposed redevelopment is allowed within the existing zoning on the site.
Is this related to the recently approved condo project?
There is no affiliation with the condo project proposed for 301 N Fairfax Street, which is a separate project being developed by Hoffman & Associates.
When will construction begin?
As of August 2025: Construction is not expected to begin for at least 18-24 months, as the project must first receive entitlement and technical approvals. This website will be updated as the timeline becomes clearer. Furthermore, the project team will host public meetings leading up to the start of construction to share more detailed plans with the community.
